Head of Highways and Transport Strategy

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional candidate with a Highways and transport background.  

 

Role:

​

• Hold responsibility for the operational delivery of the highways and transport strategy service.

• Highways, Traffic, Parking, Design, Civil Engineering, Transport Strategy, Steetworks Coordination, and Road Safety Programmes are inclusive of the responsibility with this role.

• Manage and lead the team to achieve the Authority’s objectives.

• Liaison lead with key strategic transport partners such as TFL and rail operators.

 

Delivery:

 

• To lead and take overall responsibility for the highlighted service areas and Group Managers

              Group Manager – Flood Management and Civil Engineering

              Group Manager – Traffic, Road Safety & Parking Engineering

              Group Manager – Highways Engineering & Network Management

              Group Manager – Transport Strategy & Development Control

• Key Liaison with TFL, including ensuring the successful development of the LIP programme and securing external capital funding for the borough.

• Play a full part in the Civic Pride Management Team, including the overall well-being and strategic direction of the organisation and contributing to projects / initiatives outside of the post holder’s immediate areas of responsibility.

• To represent and deputise for the Operations Director when required.

 

 

Candidate:

 

We are looking for a degree educated candidate with experience working and around the highways, traffic management and civil engineering sector. You will have a detailed understanding of Local Government and experience of working in a political environment, budget management as well as experience managing and developing success in leading and motivating teams to a high level of achievement.

The ideal candidate will want to drive performance and development of staff while holding a strong transformational ability.
